For the average 4th grader, that's pretty darn good. But it really all depends on her physique, experience, past times, etc.
7:12 might be good but not if her usual time is 6:25. 7:12 might be good for a stockily built new runner, but not for a leggy girl who's been running for years.
Improvement is the name of the game. She got 7:12. Good. 7:11 would be better. Go for it.
My best time in high school was 5:24. A lot of people do it a lot faster than that but I was pretty darn proud of myself since it was MY best.
I'm afraid my mile time now would be measured with a calendar, not a stopwatch.

7.12 is a good mile time for a fourth grade girl. I have two daughters who started running in third grade. They're older now (12 and 10) and run 5K and cross-country races with their track teams. I also run distance races and I've seen some kids run pretty fast.
If she trains properly, she should be able to do much better.
Most 5K/10K races will also hold kiddie runs, which are usually 1 mile or less. Enter her in one of those and see how she does. Some of the kids' runs are free.
Runners Image and Active.com are a couple sites where you can find local races.

That is a good time!! There are kids in my sisters 8th grade class that can't even run it in 7 minutes. I looked some stuff on-line for you. This info is for 8 year olds (don't know how old she is but its the only age they gave).
Mile Times for 8-year-olds
Presidential Physical Fitness Award Qualifying Standard
Boys: 8:48
Girls: 10:02
National Physical Fitness Award
Boys: 11:05
Girls: 12:30
Health Fitness Award
Boys: 11:00
Girls: 11:00
Her time is really good for a 4th grader... she should be proud of it!! I run the mile in about 3-5 minutes but... I run cross country. So.. I am used to running a lot.
Tell her good job!!!

Are you serious? That's fast by my standards! I remember the first time I ran my mile back in the 6th grade and I got 9:59! That's nearly 3 mins faster than me! I couldn't even crack the 8 minute barrier until high school! Sign her up for the 2018 Olympics NOW! (or is it 2016 Summer Olympics?)

I'm a high school senior and my best mile time was just under 8 minutes, so 7:12 for a 4th grader is awesome!

That is actually pretty good. If she could get it into the low 6's then I would say that would be pretty fast. like 6min 15-20 seconds.
