When Antony moved to Egypt to take over Governorship of that part of the Roman Empire he had a big time affair with her. I am not sure if she ever truly loved him , but Cleopatra was the type of women that would use her looks and sexual prowess to her advantage and get her what she wanted. He was truly in love with her and professed it all the time. I hope this helped. TC messstograves. Sorry no links just info from the book the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire. A tough read but very informative . I am sure if you googled Antony(it is actually not Anthony) and Cleopatra you will get anything you need.

They had a long-lived romantic affair. At the time, Mark Antony (not Anthony) had a wife back in Rome, and his well-known affair proved very harmful to his reputation. This let his political rival, Octavian (later the emperor Augustus) get an upper hand in their battle for public favour. He was able to humiliate Antony not only for having an affair, but for having it with a foreign Queen. Thus, Octavian was able to portray Antony as both a dishonourable man who had wronged his Roman wife, and as a traitor. Ultimately, Octavian defeated Antony's army, and both Antony and Cleopatra soon committed suicide.
