can i just use one U.S. stamp?

The rate is the same anywhere in the US. Up to 1 oz (and a single sheet of paper will be under that) is 39 cents currently. So that is one 39 cent stamp, or any combination of lower amount stamps that equal 39 cents or more.

One current United States Postage stamp will do the job.

Letters of regulation size only need one stamp to be mailed first class.

UMMMM one just like any other letter. Unless it is a thicker letter then it might take more.
