Flexibility is very underrated when it comes to speed. Also, flexibility will help you stay healthy thoughout your playing days. If you want to get faster the best thing to do is run - no secret here. But there is good running and bad running. Talk to a track or cross country coach at your school and find out the propper running technique. Then find a hill close to your relatively close to your house. Stretch out, jog to the hill, and do sprints up the hill. I used to do 8 to 10 sprints. Then jog home, and stretch again. The same person you go to for propper running technique could probably help you with propper stretching as well.

I did this every other day for about 4 months before football started between my sophmore and junior years in HS. On the days I didn't run sprints, I ran distance (about 3 miles). I went from a 4.9s 40-yard to a 4.5s. Four tenths of a second might not seem like a lot for all that work, but believe me, it helps. Supplement this with a good weight training regime and you'll be starting on varsity in no time.

Start by eating a very healthy diet. Don't underestimate what good food can do for performance.
Second, hit the weight room and work your calf and quad muscles. Power squats and such will help develop the muscles needed for quick explosions of speed.
Third, just sprint. Measure out 40 yards (120 feet) and run that over and over again.
Remember to chart everything too. You should see some slow but steady improvment.

get 5lbs ankle weights to start and do windsprints for a certain period of time. Start at one endzone with the ankle weights sprint 30 yards jog ten then sprint 30 yards jog 10 untill you reach the other end zone. Make sure to stretch and become very flexible. Also you can do this on the track by sprinting the straights and joging the turns.
