Does anybody else get goosebumps when they listen to this song? Honestly, I don't like Hornsby's vocals, and I'm not even that impressed with his lyrics, but the piano on this song is just amazing. Let me know what you think! :)

omg!! me too!! i totaly have that song on my iPod. you are right! there is just something about that song that is like amazingly awesome. part is the lyrics(i like them) but the other main part is the piano melody. the tune is so catchy. some rapper made a remix to it and totally ruined the song. I never knew other people liked that song but me!!

It was the summer after I left the Midwest right out of college and moved all by myself to Charlottesville, Virginia because I wanted to live near the Blue Ridge Mountains. I met some great friends and the first concert I saw was Bruce Hornsby and the Range. It was beyond wonderful. All these years and all these miles later, that song still takes me back. So..yup, there are definitely goosebumps!

I've always enjoyed the song, and the lyrics are very interesting, it talks about they way society can be to each other, it's actually a sad and pathetic song, but with some great music behind it.

I like it all around. the first time I heard it the rhythm attracted me, then the piano. Then noticed his vocals. Then the lyrics. All around GREAT song.

The piano is the best bit.
I remember it well from the summer of 1986.
It was the year I went to University.

I don't care for his playing at all. He has a "poke-poke-poke" technique which sounds harsh and comes off as very rough. He's a third-rate musician and songwriter and some things are never gonna change.

I've always kind of liked the song, even though it got played to death when it was new. But "goosebumps"? nah...
