I think these look pretty freaky myself. The weirdest looking fish tend to be the deep sea fish (like the viperfish). Moray eels are somewhat menacing in appearance, but in a cool way, and not such a 'what the heck is that' way. The Sunfish (mola mola) is weird in a much less dangerous looking way.

Anyway, hope this helps. Cool question btw.

You will find the craziest looking animals in the bathy, abysso, and hadopelagic zones. So try to do searches for critters in those areas. The link of the picture you showed is an animal from one of these zones.

Its called a Gulper Eel, and again, its from those deep water zones.

Well I have actually seen one of those before, well not in real life but in a book.....the weirdest sea animal I think is also the deadliest the Irukandji jellyfish was just recently discovered about 5 years ago on the northern Australia shorelines. They are about the size of your fingernail and will kill you with just one sting...Its amazing how something so small and fragile can kill us with just one touch
