Do you think this is fair?
Ok since this is a "gay" matter I'd like your opinion. My mate Shay was kicked out of his house by his mum and dad last week because he was in a fight with them. He never told me what the fight was over but he told me the other day it was to due with the fact he came out as being gay. We all knew he was gay for about a year and it didn't bother us because lets face it it isn't as if he had changed or anything you know. But his mum and dad are "over the top" with their christian beliefs and they said they where "ashamed". I think that's pathetic. This is their son and they treat him like s h it? He was staying with us for a few days now he's in his uncles. Why do parents be like this? It's pathetic in my view. You can't change who you are right?

Of course it is not fair.I sense that the same thing will happen if my younger sister reveal to my father that she likes women more than she's permitted to ;) he is very old-fashioned and my sister cannot change either.

my best friend is a transsexual, and has recently started living full time as a woman. the only time he dresses as a guy is when he goes to visit his parents, basically because he knows that when they find out, they will disown him. his parents are 'over the top' with their religious beliefs too. his mother is a member of the WI, (women's institute), and is also a prominent figure in the local church community. it annoys me so much when i see that parents can be so judgemental towards their own children. it's not as though my friend has gone out and robbed a bank, or become a satanist, but in their eyes, it's just as bad... all u can do is be there for your friend when he needs u, and reassure him that he's not a bad person just because his parents are unable to come to terms with the way he is. maybe over time his parents will get used to the fact that their son is gay, and the situation will improve. i hope so.

It is pathetic, you're absolutely right. It's such a shame that some parents can't look past their child's sexuality and see that it is, in fact, their *child*. It's so sad. But Shay is very lucky to have good friends like you to support him:) Good for you and please continue to be there for him! This has to be hurting him horribly.
