The Fifth Element with Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman was good.
Loved Dark City which I thought deserved a bigger audience.
For a real classic, watch Forbidden Planet.

Try the movie "Contact", with Jodie Foster and Matthew McCaugnehy (sp?). I thought it was very under-rated. (Gattaca was great. I went out and bought it.)
