I am taking an english class where the teacher feels the need to make his students feel really stupid. I procrastinated in one of our assignments and obviously didn't do what he asked for. He was reading out loud to the class which ones he liked and humiliated the ones he disliked. He kept it anonymous but of course I knew he was reading mine. Now I don't think Im a moron, and he completely belittled me and made me feel like a worthless piece of ****. I understand that it wasn't what he was looking for and he didn't like it but I don't think it was necessary to tell the whole class so they can laugh at me.

My question is: should i confront him, should I complain to the english department, or should I just keep quiet?

I'm worried that if I complain to the dept, they wont keep it anonymous and he'll secretly fail me. but if I keep quiet, then he'll continue to do this.

my other questions is: should I drop the class or should I just keep going and put up with his crap?

1. It happened in my English class too. The standard of my English homework was poor, I admit that, but the regular humiliation that I received (there was no anonymity) did not motivate me do any better. I would have liked to learn how to produce quality work, but I didn't receive any proper tuition and guidance, just regular open ridicule.

2. I never did anything about it, but even now, many years later, I still think about what I should have done, and this is what I decided .... I should have started my homework with a statement to the effect that I wanted to learn how to produce quality work, but that I was not getting the support that I could have reasonably expected from my teacher, whose continual scorn and derision completely demotivated me. Then, I should have got one of my parents, preferably father, to write, just below the statement, a signed affirmation that he had read it, and was in agreement with it, and that he wanted confirmation that the teacher would provide that improvement in tuition. Then I would have done the homework as best as I could.

3. That way, I would have confronted the teacher, but by treating the matter as confidential (only he would have read it) I would have shown myself to be more mature than him, and he would have seen that I had the support of a responsible adult.

4. I am sure that would have produced a change in my teacher's behaviour, once he knew that he was under critical observation from another adult. Perhaps you can try that.

If the instructor is on tenure, you haven't any longer any danger. there grew to become right into a instructor at my junior intense college who used a canines clicker on her pupils. She grew to become into additionally understand to sometimes "bat at" them. regrettably, something she did wanting homicide grew to become into no longer sufficient to get her fired. that's achieveable you are able to ask to your sister to be located in a distinctive classification. in case you have already talked to the instructor gently and rationally, and the habit continued, then that's no longer likely you would be waiting to artwork something out. talk with the mothers and dads of alternative infants interior the class. Does she try this to different young infants too? in case you are able to connect forces and unite as mothers and dads/ guardians, the college administration will have no determination yet to take word. despite you do, you ought to no longer permit your sister stay in that college room. whether you get the instructor to provide up, there'll constantly be one among those unseen rigidity remaining. the instructor would be much extra offended and discriminating in direction of your sister for "getting her in hardship", yet now she would be able to particular her thoughts in a extra secretive way. Your sister would not deserve this manner of medical care, and preserving her in that classification might have undesirable consequences on her self esteem and sense of self properly worth.
