I'm with UK comedian Bill Bailey on this one. In his song "Hats off to the Zebras", he dedicates a verse to the humble badger...

They have tunnel vision. They try to weasel out of things. They are cheese heads. Must you badger me any further? Go Wisconsin! In the NCAA tournament. You have to love a university that serves beer in the student commons building.

Without a doubt they are obstinate and superficial but I wouldn't say they're rude...that's just their nature to be blunt and short-tempered with us superior beings.
