Neutrogena face washes can be drying...coupled with sun exposure and yes, your skin might get really dry and flaky. With that said...a good scrub will help exfoliate the flakes off. However, since your skin will still be really dry...you need to slather your face with lotion. Preferably right after washing your face or taking a shower so your skin really absorbs the lotion. Do it in the morning and at night.
Neutrogena has a gentle face wash that is a lot less drying than their other products. A really good lotion is either Oil Of Olay for sensitive skin with SPF 15...Aveeno also has good face lotions.
I would skip the facial wash for the next 2-3 days and just use the scrub. Don't scrub to hard...do it in circular motions...also...just use the scrub once a day. It's not good to overdo it. Use the lotion twice a day or more depending on how dry skin feels. It should take a few days for your skin to get back to normal.
Good luck!

I get the same way, my skin is very sensitive. It means the medicine is working. It is taking off all the bad skin and starting with new beautiful skin. Go to your doctor, it doesn't have to be a dermatologist, and they can give you moisturizer that won't make your skin oily or pimply, but it will stop dryness. My current medicine is Clyndamicine. If your skin continues to be dry, limit your use of your skin care products.. Or wash your face and put on whatever you put on 30-1 hr AFTER you washed your face. This is all advice from my dermatologist in my own words... Haha hope it helps!!!

You need to deeply condition and hydrate your skin with the proper ingredients that will not cause your skin to break out, produce oil, or dry out. Most lotions on the market contain mineral oil, the molecular structure of which is too large to penetrate the pores of your skin. Products that contain mineral just sit on the top layer like saran wrap and cause dirt and debris to collect on your skin. These also give a temporary feeling of softness and have little to no benefit. Check your products to ensure they do not contain harmful ingredients such as alcohol, wax, dyes, chemicals, animal products, acetone, etc. These will irritate and/or dry out your skin. Arbonne has a great day creme and intelligence moisturizer that are pure, safe, beneficial, and water based so it will actually penetrate your dermis and deeply condition your skin without irritation and dryness. If you're interested in trying a free sample, I'll be happy to send you one.

Don't rub it, it will make your skin worse. The flaking is natural. Use loads of night moisture cream (at night) which is when your skin heals. Use a light moisture lotion with SFF 8 -15 by day. Wear sunscreen whenever outdoors. Tru Arbonne.
