you need to clean up your computer. if you do not have much hard drive space - that will slow it down. get rid of any files/programs you don't use. also, right-click on your c drive under my computer and go to properties. go to tools. you can use the disk cleanup to get rid of somestuff. you can also try defragmenting the drive as well or checking for errors. you might also need more ram. feel free to e-mail me if you have more questions. hope this helps!

There are several things that can slow a laptop down. You may have spyware or viruses that are too new for Norton to recognize.
Misconfigured or old drivers can also slow down the system. A laptop using an intel 82801 io chip, can slow to a crawl if the chipset drivers are not installed.
Another common cause of slow windows computers is hd fragmentation. defragging the drive can help a lot.
You can search the net for "Windows Tuning" for all kinds of hints to make windows run faster.

Please be informed that Norton is a very huge software that takes up a lot of space on your computer... Norton could be the reason of your computer's dysfunctions.
I highly recommend McAfee 2007. While you are scanning your computer with McAfee 2007, you can browse the Internet, download, etc, and your computer will NOT slow down... McAfee continues to be the leader of computer defense today.

Remove old files or programs. Clear your internet cache. Some programs for virus/spyware that are free and may help you feel more secure are: Ad-Aware and AVG. Both downloadable and up dated regularly.

1. Use a second spyware detector. A good free one is Adaware.
2. Get a registry cleaner and useless file deleter, I use Ace Utilities. It has been very good for me.
3. Defrag your hard-drive.
4. Use a startup manager and get rid of all un-needed files that are loaded at startup (Ace Utilities has this built in).

Eliminate unused programs, empty temporary Internet files and defrag the hard drive. I just finished doing this to my Dell laptop this weekend and it helped a lot.
