One night, a week before my due date, I had a fever, felt achy all over, called the ob/gyn and she said to take a tylenol, that I may be getting the flu. I asked if it was labor and she said no. I woke up about 6 hours later when my water broke. I think there was a sound because the water didn't come until I was in the bathroom and the contractions started right after that. I tried to shower but realized I didn't have time. They were so bad I wanted to just stay in my room and not get into the car, but we made it to the hospital and I was having contractions every couple of minutes, 10 cm dialated. The nurses told me not to push until the doctor arrived, but your body pushes when it needs to. My labor was about an hour and a half from waking up to my son being born. And that was a first child, so I was very surprised. I expected to be there for 12 hours waiting. I had no drugs except pitocin after he was born to help with the placenta. I had some trouble with one of my lungs during and after the delivery, but it got better. The contractions were bad, but they just run their course and then you have your beautiful baby. I think the worst part was healing from the episiotomy or fissure or whatever was going on down there.
Good luck! And expect the unexpected, everyone's is different and you never know how it will turn out, 1 hour or 24, but you will be fine!

It has been different everytime for me. Im now 38 weeks with my 4th and I think everything is labor coming on..lol. Probably because Im very anxious. With my first son I never really got any indications that labor was about to begin. I was just sitting there one night, the day before he was due and I started to get slight cramping, so I told my husband that I was going to go lay down and I went to bed and was awakened by terrible contractions that were happening every 2 minutes. It was bad. I was rushed to the hospital. With my 2nd, I was induced, but before I was I was starting to get sick again , like I was getting my morning sickness back., and then with my third, I was in pain, my hips were killing me, and I could hardly walk. I told my husband that it was any time now and then my water began to leak for a few days. I was still doing things I needed to do around the house, but the day I went into labor I layed down most of the day, and began to get contractions in the evening. I went to the hospital to get checked out and my water broke right after I arrived there. So all different, and I dont know what to expect with this one now. Its driving me crazy.

I felt cramps in my lower back and tightening in my belly 2 days after my due date.
They started around 10pm and were 10 mins apart. They started getting harsher and harsher. But I was schedualled to go in the next day to be induced so I didn`t want to go to the hospital.
By 2 am I finally fell asleep, 3am I woke up to the back pain again, this time 5 mins apart. I finally fell back to sleep around 6. Was at the hospital to be induced by 845.
They monitored me til 10am, I was 3.5 cm so they jsut broke my water. Then the REAL pain started. The back labor got so bad after they broke my water. They were practically on top of eacher. Every 2 minutes, lasting about a minute each. I had to get hte epidural and by 5.25 pm, after only 35 mins of pushing, he was born.
The epidural saved my life!!

my baby came on his due date (very unusual). by the time i was 36 weeks i was ready for birth and tried all the tricks to try and induce labour. i lost my mucus plug 2 days before labour started and started getting all excited then. when i first went into labour it was just like bad back ache, but then i got abdominal pains coming and going. people tell you it's the worst pain of your life, and it is...... for about five minutes. then you get handed the most beautiful thing you'll ever see and you forget all about everything but your little baby. congratulations and good luck.xxx

i woke up at like 4:30am with bad tummy ache, i had to use the bathroom it was like one of those tummy aches i figured i ate something that didn't agree with me. i couldn't go back to sleep and then at 6am my water broke i had no idea what labor felt like (it was my first) and it didn't really hurt cause i thought it was just a tummy ache haha until later when i was like dilated to 5 then i could start to feel the pain.

i was nervous with my first child, labor is what it says it is work.. but what a great one it is , just take it literally moment by moment, contraction by contraction...try not too rush or be a tough chick .enjoy this precious moment with what will turn out to be THE greatest love of your life coming into this world.
the best to you sweetie
