Definitely not! I love tobacco. I think the additives should be outlawed, except the ones for flavor or harmless preservative

I might think chewing tobacco/dip should be outlawed but not in the sense of making it illegal, maybe just lack of demand for it-but it's possible I don't understand why people prefer it to cigarettes. I tried it and it caused a temporary weakening of my front lower gums and I didn't use much of it-I used India tobacco for a few months and skoal a few times cherry was interesting and had a nice flavor so it didn't seem gross

The US (and other "free" nations) have become a nation of nationalized control freaks.
I find it laughable that people believe so much of the BS that is produced to show how bad tobacco is without one ounce of research. I have researched it and what I found was that the government and it's anti-smoking (anti-freedom) group is lying about tobacco. The research is often even contradictory.
On a personal note, I've smoked heavily for over 40 years and have never been sicker than having a cold or flu in all those years. I eat wrong, I smoke 40 or more cigarettes a day and am in better shape than anyone I know in my age group that doesn't smoke. Many of my friends are smoker as well and have been for many, many years. None have ever contracted a "smoker's disease". Also odd, that many deaths are blamed on smoking, even some congenital diseases and conditions such as congenital heart disease. Convenient, huh?
You anti-smokers are simply a group of self-righteous, hypocritical nannies. You ignore one of the biggest problems: pollution caused by automobile exhaust (and injury and death to accidents in them) while focusing on tobacco.
I think anti-smokers need to get a life and get out of my business. As long as you use internal combustion engines (cars, trucks, planes, trains and even lawn mowers), you are polluting my air with your poison while complaining about mine, which is infinitesimal by comparison. That makes you a hypocrite.

Only if you want to create more funding for organized crime. Most people know that Prohibition was a perfect way for the Chicago
and New York mobs to make money by bootlegging alcohol from Canada. People are gonna drink, its like celebrating Christmas, or spending your Friday paycheck, or having
a picnic on a sunny day.
It is a right, but not an unalienable right
because you can lose the right to drink.
So the government actually created income
for gangsters by using political power to control what people do with a substance and with the
money that people worked to obtain.
Millions of people derive income from
their jobs in the tobacco industry, the supermarkets
we all go to profit from selling tobacco products.
Smoking is a choice. Stores and restaurants all
have No Smoking restrictions if they wish, that's the most you can ask for in terms of restricting tobacco use. It makes me angry myself when
I go into a McDonald's and somebody decides
to smoke anyway. But do you want to live in a
basically free society, or are we to be
free to do only what a group, or groups,or our government says is allowed, because of their views on health? Tobacco use is not malicious or
socially exploitative behavior, and if one wants to
fire up, that's up to him or her and if you don't want to breathe the smoke you should remove yourself
from it instead of saying I should give the government more power over my daily life.

By far!! I dont know my it isn't, all it does is kill you, nothing good comes out of it!! I'm a big Anti-Tobacco person, and i just think there are too many people addicted!! Maybe the quitting meds should be cheaper, then more people would quit!! Either way they will save thousands of dollars in the long run! If it is outlawed, many people would be arrested, but It would be worth it, saving many new lives that become addicted, and the ones, already have ruined! People would not quit if it was not allowed, more teens would do it cause its bad, and gangsta, and junk. Like"hey im smoking, im kewl cause I'm bad! its illegal you know!" But whatever, still worth it!

It would save so many lives....Imagine....

Alcohol to!! They are both so pointless, and only kill!!! Doesnt help anyone!!

Lets see...
Bad:
After about 20-30 years of smoking everyday you MAY develop lung cancer or emphysema.

Good:
Thousands of people have jobs, billions of dollars in revenue, not to mention if it wasn't for tobacco the first American colonies wouldn't have survived.

Now if we ban it you will be creating a billion dollar black market run by gangsters and drug dealers, so not only will people die from disease but there will be gang war fare, increased corruption of the police and the justice system and a lot of other hidden costs.

No, narcotics illegal and people still use them. The only difference is the fact that with tobacco and alcohol generates legitimate tax for public spending, and this tax is greater than than the amount spent for tobacco related illnesses.

The govt. should require the extraction of nicotene from cigarette tobacco sold in this country. young ppl would smoke for awhile to look 'cool', then just quit when they've outgrown it. With the nicotene, they can't quit. nicotene is already available in smoking cessation products. So new smokers won't become addicted, and current addicted smokers can use smoking cessation products to gradually break the addiction.

Did you know that tea does not contain caffiene naturally? the tea companies add the caffiene to make it addictive. Adding addictive drugs to foods and beverages should be banned.

Should we outlaw alcohol too?
what about fast cars?
or shopping on tuesdays?

when do you do stop making laws?
Should the government make all the decisions for us?
Are we not capable of making informed decisions for ourselves?
Surely people have the right to choose?

It should be outlawed, but it never will be. The amount of money the tobacco industry sinks into BOTH parties here in the states has made it impossible to criminalize it and put it on the books next to illegal drugs and drunk driving.
