Are there still people who truly believe that the current administration knew nothing about the problems? How far are we, as American citizens, willing to let this presidency continue, unchallenged? We have been lied to and misled for the last six years. When will we say "enough is enough" and start grass-root movements to impeach this president?

The VA hospitals fall under control and financeing of the Congress.....Why is the President blamed for everything wrong with the country?
If I was a Liberal, I would agree about being misled..My President has not misled me and has been doing a dificult job, that gets tougher, when the Libs get involved without knowing what is up..

It already started with the Libby trial. The obvious connection to Cheney is down played in the neo-con run media, but still obvious to all with half a brain. Whether Congress has the testicular fortitude to go after Bush & Cheney in the manner the Republicans went after Bill Clinton is the real problem. The general public is only an issue with the Federal Government when a couple Million people march on Washington. It is unfortunate, but the Feds have long since delegated the actual governing of people to the State governments. The Federarl government, both Republican and Democrat are too busy making the world safe for corporate structure's to worry about people.

To pretend that this is a recently developed problem, or that it has been the result of policies of the current administration, is a naive position, indeed. It may be fashionable and trendy to spout forth knee-jerk-liberal gibberish, but know the facts.

The treatment of veterans in this country has been pathetic for decades. It is not something new. The Veterans Administration, The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and other pro-military groups have been sounding the alarm about substandard care at least since the Korean War. (Ever hear of Agent Orange victims and their lack of treatment?) In times of peace we put care of veterans on a back burner because after all, we're at peace. In times of war we prefer not to think about the sacrifices of our armed forces.

What have you done? Do you visit the VA hospital nearest you? Do you even donate a used book to the hospital? Have you written to your congressional representatives urging them to fund better veteran care regardless of support for the current war?

Blaming Bush for all your problems is easy. Taking action is hard. If you want a meaningful "grass-roots" movement, start a campaign to make Congress pass legislation to adequately fund Veteran Care.

I thought your newly elected Democrats were supposed to save the world? And on what grounds are you suggesting impeachment? Don't you think that perhaps your Democratic leaders know a little more than you do about the situation? Did it occur to you that maybe they haven't tried it because they know it will fail?

And the others are correct - the VA is a mess and has been for years, but what the hell. You guys dump everything else on Bush - why not this, too?

I'm just confirming what infobroker and ML said.

I distrusted military medicine so much (and with good reason) that when my kids were small, I used to take them to a civilian pediatrician whenever we were home on leave. Fortunately, he was a friend of my in-laws so he never charged me for giving my kids a physical. But I would have gladly paid for it out of my own pocket anyway.

It's a good thing my second pregnancy wasn't my first pregnancy, because I didn't see the same obstetrician twice.

My brother had problems with the VA as soon as he returned from Vietnam in the early 1970s. Their reputation was terrible then, and they earned it. It hasn't gotten any better.

And people want this for everyone? No thanks.

First of all, when you instantly contribute every single world problem to Bush, it's understood immediately that you're a hack. What would your answer be, a better president? A democrat? Does it matter, as long as they color is blue and their symol a donkey?

Personally, it's a wake up call as to how broken our system of beaucracies truly is, and how terrible an idea like healthcare for everyone is. If we can't look after a few thousand of the men and women who damn near died for our country so you could be a political hack on the internet, then how can we possibly look after 300 million people spread out over 50 states?

Give it a rest.

Just take the whole episode as an example of what to expect if government ever takes over civilian health care.

The VETERANS ADMINISTRATION has known about these problems for DECADES.

Bush can not oversee all of the hundreds of thousands of departments in the government.
