Superstition or wishes for luck should NOT guide your choice of color. I've never heard of green being associated with bad luck. In the US, we sometimes describe someone as "green with envy," but we don't judge people as envious just because they wear green. Fashion sense at the company where you are applying, SHOULD dictate color.
For example, at a conservative law firm, where everyone in your job description is wearing a grey or Navy blue suit: your green suit would be out of fashion, and might cost you the job.
But at a cosmetics counter, where you are trying to model green eyeshadow, a green suit might be perfect.
So try to visit the company at which you'd like to work, or if the company is too far away, call someone who works there and ask. Visit their website and see how the employees dress. Then dress their way for the interview.

It might be a sign of bad taste, but not bad luck. :) Generally, darker suits are read as more formal/professional, and certain company cultures or jobs have different standards for what is considered as professional attire..
However, there is nothing wrong with wearing green, in a suit or otherwise, provided that the color looks good on you and the fabric/cut of the garment are of good quality. It might even make you stand out as someone who is fresh and creative.

Never having seen a green suit that didn't make me cringe, I think it may be a matter of being non-offensive which is a very good thing to be at a job interview!

I don't really believe in colors being lucky or unlucky. If you're the right person for the job and present yourself professionally, it doesn't matter what color your suit is.

Pick something neutral. If the suit color is one offensive to the interviewer they will be thinking about that, not how dazzling you are.

not necessarily bad luck, but green can be a pretty strong color. Go with a conservative black, navy blue, etc.
