Well not leading, But there was X-Men III The Last Stand, Elektra, DareDevil. other than that, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I know I'm a Marvel Fan!! >.<

Well, that has a little to do with the history of things. Women have not traditionally been on the battlefield and in charge of things.
But some examples for you: Cleopatra, Joan of Arc
But you're not going to find a whole lot of war movies with women traipsing through the jungle, unless you move into the science fiction genre where women can easily be lean mean fighting machines, that they may not have always been in the past.

In the Lord of the Rings, Eowyn goes to war and fights ..even dons a sword and chainmeal. She rocks!
