Two islands actually, one being the island of Hydra in the Saronic Gulf . It is a beautiful Island with venetian villas with blooming bougainvilleas everywhere, excellent restaurants and cool chic Little clubs scattered around the amazing harbor. Plus no cars no bikes no mopeds or airports NO TRAFFIC! it is a cosmopolitan and elegantly romantic fantasy
Of course it would be inept not to mention Santorini. never have you seen anything like it . I have been there quite a few times and still cant believe my eyes. Please don't just take my word for it ,look both Islands up on the web. The pictures you will find are just a small glimpse of what its like to actually be there. hope this helps

I think you might find Santorini (beautiful though it is) to be a bit too busy and crowded for a honeymoon.........and once you're there, its quite a trek to the next decent islands.
We had our honeymoon on the island of Paxos, just south of Corfu. We stayed in a little fishing town on the north of the island called Loggos which was quiet and we had our own beach next to our villa. If we wanted a bit of life we went down to the main harbour town of Gaios which has everything you need.

You should stay in Athens for 2-3 days, and then go either to Monemvasia (a lovely medieval castle, but book a hotel in the castle, eg. Malvasia hotel), or to an island like Mykonos or Syros (lovely neoclassical town, stay in Syrou Melathron or Archontiko Vourli) or Santorini (stay in the town Oia). Or go to Rhodes or Kos, wonderful setting and beaches. Do try one of the places I mentioned or a combination (you can combine Syros-Mykonos, they are close by, or Kos-Rhodos).

- Santorini (in June or September) if you stay in the village Oia (very scenic, breathtaking view, quiet, but you will have to drive to the beach).
- Kythira (not in August) - lovely castle, green, lovely beaches, very clean island but you will need a car (check if there are rent-a-car agencies nowadays)
- Skiathos / Skopelos - very green, nice beaches.
As for shopping, all islands have something, but not much unless you go to a really big island, like Rodos, Creta, Lesvos, Corfu, Kefallonia

I dont think that greece is suitable for a romantic honeymoon.
If you are looking for big hotels for relaxing holidays try Crete, Rhodes, Corfu, halkidiki etc . if you would like to expolre greece try island hoping on the cyclades or my personal favorites lefkada, Ithaki kefalonia but you will need a car to move around.
