KL is great fun and it's well worth going up the Petronas towers, though if you do go, get there early to get you ticket. It's free but you have to go in the morning to get a ticket which will have an allotted time, usually the same afternoon. It's also worth going up the Comms tower, give you great views.
If you want a bit of culture with your beach then Penang is great, plenty to do, a great fun night area and market. There is also George Town that has loads of bars, restaurants and British history!
Langkawi I think was prettier than Penang, but there is less to do. Well cheap though!!

Up to you IF you want to see city go to KL. want to meet nice people go to Penang and IF you want to see forest go to Sabah.
