No ....don't pressure your baby.

Just put him down for 5 seconds. Do that every day for a week.

Then try 15 seconds...every day for a week.

Then try 30 seconds.....and so on and so on.

It is no big deal...he will do great. Put something he likes on the floor in front of his face, or put him on a blanket that has lots of shapes on it.

A lot of little ones don't particularly like tummy time...the best thing you can do is to either get down on the ground with them, and sing and talk with them; or lay some toys out in front of them for them to look at. A baby mirror was always a favorite with my son. He was a big guy too, and had a big head, so it took him awhile to get the hang of holding it up...don't worry, he'll get it eventually. A couple minutes of tummy time here and there will do the trick - he doesn't have to be down there for very long to get the benefits of it. Good luck!

Instead of laying him on the floor, lay on the floor on your back and put him on top of you so he's on you belly. Maybe get him an unbreakable mirror for him to look at while he is on the floor. A boppy pillow also works nice, just put his little chest on the pillow so he can push up with his arms.
Also, Let him sleep on your chest during the day as well, as this will help keep him little head nice and round too :)

For the people who said that 2 months is too early for tummy time, they are wrong.
You should be doing tummy time regularly by the 1st month.
My daughter could sit up at 4 months! That is just insanity waiting that long!

Put him on something soft. Maybe even your bed while you lay next to him. Alot of babies {my son included} HATED the hard floor. But you have to keep trying. His weight shouldnt be the reason he's uncomfortable keep trying even if its only 2-3 minutes at a time. My daughter was a "late bloomer" due to being a micro premature infant and I had to take her to PT to teach her to lift her head {this was almost 14yrs ago} they rolled up a towel under her chest so that it went under her armpits and let her put pressure on her elbows. You shouldnt have to do this with your son every baby develops at different rates, my son {also a premature infant} was strong enough to hold his own head up by the end of the 1st week for short periods of time.

my son also hated tummy time. An occupational therapist friend said to take a towel and roll it up and place it under him (like lying over a bolster) she said it was a great way for him to build strength for sitting and crawling. He likes it much better now. I lay on the floor with him and he feels my face and pulls on my hair- he has a blast. (although the hairpulling probably won't be too cute in a month or two lol)

Tummy time starts when baby first comes home. Starting for just a minute or two. Now at 2 months baby should be liking it for 5 minutes or so. Make it entertaining. Put something fun to look at in front of him. Basic baby toys might not be fun enough but I bet your cell phone will work. (dont let him have it just let him look at it) Make noises/music and have fun lighted toys.

It seems to me that most infants hate tummy time. Mine did but you do have to do it at least a little. Just try to do it for a few minutes and get down there with him. I don't think his weight should be a problem. Eventually he will be fine on both front or back.

Tummy time is hard to start...most little ones hate it in the beginning. To make it easier for my granddaughter, we used her Boppy...to get her used to it, without having to use a lot of head strength...at about 2 months.

She's just over 3 months now, and tummy time is getting much more enjoyable for her... she can hold herself up pretty good, and talks away at her little toys.

Stick with it !!! Good mommy for doing tummy time !!!!

My twins hated it too! They are now 4 1/2 months and 14lbs. One of them definately likes it better than the other. I say just keep trying every so often but for very short periods of time. Since they aren't used to that it may be scary or uncomfortable for them at first. Good luck

Tummy time is very important. My daughter hated it then and still hates it. she is nearly 7 months old and now has a helmet for plagiocephaly (flat head). We bought her a bumbo seat when she was 2 months old and she loved it. It kept her off of her head and also helped to develop her neck and back muscles. It was worth every cent.
