In Final Fantasy 7, who did Square Enix really want Cloud to be with?

Is it Aerith(Aeris) or Tifa. The evidence that I've found makes me want to pull for Aerith, but so many people belive that it's Tifa. What do you think?

I am pretty sure its both like the other person said. But then there other part of evidence that wilkipedia was saying that tifa and advent movie said mainly she was there for him. they sort pushing that he and her were together. But in my thoughts I felt he still struggling from reforming from lifestream and trying gather what happened is he alone and end it came clear. He wanted to know if aerith and zack were still out there. tifa I don't know she could consider a lifelong friend. while he still misses his friends aerith and zack. but date that he went on at goldsaucer believe me..aerith was more alive then tifa was ever was. taking her on that ferris wheel. tifa was lifeless. and aerith was more into sights. so in all My thoughts I have to say aerith was more of good sport then tifa was.

Even though tifa got jealous with cloud and aeris(th) not sure if there ever was love triangle all I know that memories of his best friend was inside him. so technically whatever connection he might have felt could be linked to what happened then...that all I am saying.

Well, the ending of the game is pretty nice, he end up with both of them.

He loves Aerith forever in his heart, but in the same time he also loves Tifa forever in his heart.

I prefer this ending rather an ending or endings where he end up with either of them.



As for originial plan and so on.

Well, there was a rumor that they originially planned to have a 'revive Aerith' quest.

Considering that there seems to be some places in the game where things look 'empty', the rumor might have been true.

The bridge of the Highwind for example, seems to have a place where there's no one around, but look as if it meant to be occupied by someone.

Though this is irrelevant, since obviously in the final version Cloud still end up with Aerith in the game, eventhough she was dead.

But nevertheless, it illustrate that Aerith, dead or not, still end up with Cloud.


Locke from Final Fantasy VI kind of shared the same fate as Cloud.

Locke end up with Rachel, his girlfriend that is unconcious due an accident. Eventhough Locke kind of end up with Celes, but not 'live happily ever after' with her or even Rachel.

Locke in the same time end up and don't end up with both Rachel and Celes. Rachel was unconcious and he don't want to pursue a life together with Celes eventhough that he loves Celes.

Note: Rachel was the girlish girl in the similiar category as Aerith, while Celes is the powerful but gentle girl in the similiar category as Tifa.


It should also be noted that originially there might have been only a girl and there are no two girls.

It might have been a Rinoa-ish character.

The name Tifa might have been originially meant to be a short for Tiphareth, one of the Sephiroth in the Tree of Life.

This girl named 'Tiphareth' probably play a similiar role as Aerith and Tifa.

What the heck, it's probably Rinoa, or at least her Final Fantasy VII concept version. Final Fantasy VIII is probably a reboot version of Final Fantasy VII.

Note: Rinoa have the same height as Aerith (163 cm) and is quite as girlish as Aerith.
