I recently installed a memory stick, but I didn't see any loose wires when I opened it back up again. I've tried everything, can anyone tell me what it should look like inside the PC? I have Windows ME, if that's important.

Windows ME is just horrible. Make sure that the wires are properly in by pushing them in. You may also need to Uninstall the drivers for it, and restart your computer. Windows should then reinstall them.

check the ide cables eg the 40 pin cables that goto the cdrom/dvd drives. if its not that reset the cmos, if that doesnt work then more serious, best idea would to take machine to a pc shop.

Windows ME is the problem, by far the worst OS Microsoft has made.
