I tried both but ended up formula feeding exclusively by 4 weeks...
It just didn`t work out for us. He wouldn`t latch and I couldn`t find a lactation consultant in my area.
I tried to pump, but it was so hard to find the time as my husband wasn`t very supportive of BFing and rarely held the baby so I could.
SO after my last very painful clogged milk duct (due to not being able to pump often enough) I had to call it quits.

But I do plan on trying again with my next (whenever that may be) because I do believe Breast is Best and at least my little man got 4 weeks worth of it.

As a guy, I'm speaking from my wife's experience.

WIth our first, she was very worried about breastfeeding, as it was quite sore at the beginning. Mainly because of this, she never really produced much milk, so soon switched to bottle.

With our second, she was an "experienced mom", so a lot more laid back. As a result she tried breastfeeding, really enjoyed it and ended up doing it for 6 months. After this she returned to work, so it got a bit difficult to fit into her schedule.

Based on her feedback (and my own "sense of experience" really), I can say that breastfeeding does hurt initially, but once the milk's flowing, it's not sore at all. It's A LOT more convenient than bottle! With a bottle, you're constantly sterilizing bottles and water for formula milk and you have a whole heap of goodies to take all over with you when going out with your baby.

Apart from these "practicalities", there is of course the whole "breastmilk is better" thing. Your baby will build up an immune system from your milk, the nutrients are supposed to be better and there is the whole "bonding between mother and child" debate.

My wife was actually quite reluctant to quit breastfeeding, so I think I can safely say it's the way to go!

Oh yes, forgot to mention that with our first child my wife just couldn't shake the weight she had gained, but with the breastfeeding of the second one, she lost ALL of the weight at a rate of 3 to 5 pounds per week!!!

Speaking from a male prespective, I would prefer the breastfeeding for my kids. I would make it comfortable for my wife while she's at work with the proper equipment or keep the kid myself or if she did not work, convenient for her @ the house. I think the breast route is the best because there are no artificial flavorings, colors, preservatives.

If due to physical restrictions, I would do the goat's milk. And then that would natural, I would find a herdsman or raise the goat myself.

Breast is best. I fed both mine for about a year that way. I bounced right back to my original body, the kids weren't ever sick, I saved thousands on formula and bottles, I always had the perfect snack wherever I went, it was always the right tempertature and I never needed to wash a bottle or sterilize my nipples. Go check out your local La Leche League and get more info!!! Really give it a try.. ALSO they don't always tell you that once you get the hang of it .. it really feels good!

Breastfeeding is best for your baby. I breastfed for 6 weeks. We decided to switch over to the bottle because my son ate non-stop! My nipples were sooo sore and my breast became engorged (so painful)! I wish I would have continued with the breastfeeding though, its much more healthier than formula.

Both. My twins were premature and couldn't suck. I breastfed them for 3 months (more pumping than them actually sucking). It became too much. It was taking three hours to feed them, then it was time to start all over. The choice is ultimately up to you. I will try breastfeeding this baby as well.

I breastfeed both my children. As that is the only way to feed babies, I never ever even thought of bottlefeeding.

I bottle feed my daughter. I don't knock people who do it but to me it was just gross thinking of this person attached at my nipple. And I don't believe that breastmilk makes people smarter. I was bottlefed and I turned out alright. I just couldn't see myself sitting there with a pump on my breast or being in public and my child be hungry and me popping out my breast to feed the child that is awkward to almost everyone.

I breastfed and I now have a healthy, happy, intelligent and well adjusted little boy. It was a big commitment, kind of like being pregnant for another stretch of time, but got easier as I went along and I am very happy I did it. :)
