Most likely a Governor. You get to know executive responsibilities firsthand.

Senators and Representatives get experience with legislation, but it does not require great leadership skills to say yea or nay. Only the very best Senators or Reps get seriously considered for President.

Military leadership (ie generals; not infantrymen) is also good experience with leadership tasks and executive decision making.

CEO's and other business leaders also get good leadership experience, but usually they'll need some public service also (ie, Governor, Senator, etc)

If you're asking for history, you'll see that our Presidents have been movie actors, peanut farmers, lawyers, business people, an so forth.

Generally, however, each has passed through another elected position, like governor.

If you're looking to become President, I'd suggest going to law school and then getting elected to increasingly higher elected positions.
