They are both countries divided by ancient tribal religious orders that have bands of fanatics who are/were quite happy to kill anyone to get what they've been told by clever manipulators that they want.

The only similarity comes from before the allies went in.

And that was the fact that in Ireland 2 factions of Christianity were beating crap out of each other, and in Iraq the Shia & Sunni muslims were doing the same.

Difference is that they have stopped in Ireland, but not in Iraq

There really aren't very many similarities. The violence in Northern Ireland resulted from the attempts by the British government to replace hostile Catholic Irish inhabitants with more tractable Scottish Protestant inhabitants.

The violence in Iraq stems from several sources. There is inter-sectarian violence and violence within each sect. There is violence against the US as an occupying power. There are killings motivated by revenge.

Is northern Ireland over run with Saxons again. I suppose you could say that Ireland and Iraqi warfare have been going on since the dark ages and b4 really. Many fought in England and like in Ireland also trying to take their lands.

Religious intolerance seems to be a large issue amongest most the populace of these two countires.

There is a lot more but I got stuff tod do.

i think theres more similarity between the isreal palestine situation and northern ireland.
in northern ireland many catholics support palestine some catholics also fly palestinion flags because they liken the way palestine want independance with the way they want to leave the uk. as a reaction to this the protestants support isreal and some fly isreali flags because they wish to remain part of the uk.
i cant really see as many similarties with the iraq situation. all i could suggest is that shiites and sunnis fight all though they are all muslims in iraq. whearas in northern ireland catholics and protestants fight even though they are all christians.
