I have a cheap beginners acoustic that has alot of sentimental value, and despite having problems with action due to high strings off the fretboard the one thing that has kept me from playing with this guitar is the extremely and mysteriously irratating B string. I have hanged the strings at least twice for this problem and it hasn't gone away and I've been wondering why.
I tune my guitar and all the strings sound good except my B string which sounds horrible even after using an electric tuner head on. I try tuning the other strings only and using tuning by ear (5,5,5,4,5) and well only came out with half luck, if I tune it directly by ear to the G string it sounds ok open but not pressed down say for an A chord or a G chord, and when I tune it by ear to the little E string it sounds horrible open but good pressed down as in the chords mentioned above.

Please Help!~ If the guitar needs some work done then please tell me the cheapest and easiest way to do so!

check your neck if its straight if it is then check your nut to see if it could be sharp. it could be some damage with your bridge too.

May need re-aligning.
