The cost is dependent on how many fixtures you are installing, and the type of pipes you want used. Most houses have PVC pipe for drains and vents. Water pipe could be CPVC, PEX, or copper. Gas pipe can be black steel pipe, or corrugated steel. Another cost, is if the house is in the city limits, a permit is required, and must be purchased by a Master plumber. If you are buying standard grade fixtures, versus high end fixtures, that can also make the price go up. Have all your plans, and a list of all the fixtures you intend to use, and call 2-3 plumbing contractors for an estimate. If you are building this house yourself, get a contract with the contractor you choose. I always get a contract, and it states what I am doing, and when I get paid. For a house like this I get 30% after the ground is done, 50% after the top out, and 20% after I set the fixtures, at which time I sign a release of lien to the homeowner. My contract states, that until final payment is received by me, I retain possession of all materials used on the job. This gives me some leverage over people that try and cheat me out of finishing the job, by letting a friend or relative finish for them. I hope this helps! Good luck to you!

Plumbing contractors can charge a fixed price, or charge for the time and material spent.
You can compare the hourly rates of local companies, but the fixed price per job requires that the contractor visit the home or see the plans. Most contractors provide free estimates, so please call for a few quotes and ask for names of happy past clients. You may also wish to check the contractor's record at Better Business Bureau. Good luck!
