An excellent first job would be one in general sales. It can be retail such as working at a clothing shop or cell phone sales. Many career oriented employers like canidates that have a background in sales, it means less money spent training their new hires. Hope this helps.

Alot depends on your boss. I had an awesome boss at my first job at a Chevron, and he taught me alot about hardwork, keeping your word, and being part of a team. It makes a big difference when the boss cares about his/her employees.
Getting life experience is the best thing to do. Working with the public will help, but don't get a job somewhere that is going to treat you like crap or pay you nothing. Just because you are young and never had a job, doesn't mean you deserve less for your hard work. I would try a nice restaurant, or supermarket.
Learn about how to talk to people, and about how to solve problems, after that you will be able to handle anything. Good luck!

Ahh, the last job you'll ever work!
But seriously, wait tables at a 1/2 way decent restaurant for at least a year. It'll make you a better person and appreciate SO many things... like family, weekends, good work ethics in yourself and others, and fellow restaurant workers - from dishwashers to cooks, bartenders to hosts, bus boys to the cleaning lady (if you're lucky). Plus, it's great money for a 1st job!

My first job was at Dairy Queen . I certainly learned a lot about people, and I really appreciate people who are in service industry now. I'm glad I went to the university so that did not become my permanent job.

Grocery cashier, stocker. Usher at he movies or sporting events, if you like sports, you get in free and get paid. Food service, waitress.
Take a look at what your classmates are doing, and see what they like and dislike about their jobs.
