It is possible to relactate, but it takes a lot of hard work, patience, and dedication. Good for you, for making the choice to at least try to go back to breastfeeding! Your best option is going to be to have a good support network for GOOD information and help along the way. A La Leche League leader or Lactation Consultant will have the most reliable, up-to-date info.

There are devices out there called "supplemental nursing systems" that allow you to supplement formula at the same time as your baby suckles at the breast (by a thin piece of medical tubing taped to the areola/nipple). These allow baby to get as much milk as needed from the supplement, while also stimulating the breasts to produce more milk. These types of systems are very useful for relactation.

There are herbal remedies and prescription medications available to help increase/stimulate milk production. Your doctor can recommend a medication, or you can do online research regarding herbal preparations. Mother's Milk Tea, by Traditional Medicinals brand, was very effective for me when I had low milk supply problems.

Best of luck! I hope everything works out for you. :)

If she will latch simply put her to the breast OFTEN. Someone else already mentioned a supplemental system, which is fine, but may not be necessary. Just nurse the baby often, latching on, that suckling alone can cause relactation in some. I hear Fenugreek is great for kicking up the milk supply (which was already mentioned as well). I'd try taking some fenugreek myself and putting baby to the breast as often as possible. Good luck!

If your milk has already gone then I don't think you can without taking medication. Best thing would be talk to your doctor and contact a breastfeeding support like La Leche League.

why on earth did you stop? This is a question for your doctor since your milk might have already stopped coming in....its very hard to do this because now she will be used to the bottle.

Your doctor can give you medication that will help you lactate again, but I don't think it would be an easy transition for your baby, unless you use a breast pump.
