When I was looking at user reviews of this movie on the yahoo movie page I couldn't believe how many people had there panties in a bunch over it not being 100 percent historicly acurate. This movie was based on the graphic novel not really on the actual account. Get a grip people. This was the most visually stunning , heart poundy gore fest of all time. This was intended to be an entertaining incredible movie, not something made for the history channel. Movies are made to entertain and 300 sure does that

Absolutely amazing movie. Who cares if it is not historically accurate. Aren't movies supposed to be entertaining? I loved this movie and will go see it again in a theater. I haven't done that with a movie since the first Alien.

"I couldn't believe how many people had there panties in a bunch over it not being 100 percent historicly acurate."

Isnt it great how people always have a need to complain? Of course they've got a problem with the accuracy--its about the only flaw. But its based on a Novel...

Its a great flick--as a previous poster stated, the half naked men are great--but its also just amazing. The opening weekend even blew away the film makers--as they were expecting a mid 40m opener and it was a 70m opener. Way to go... How about some more of that...

It was okay. I don't give a crap about historical accuracy. The only two things I didn't like about it was the music and the fantasy creatures. Rock music in an movie about an ancient war does not work. I don't care what any high-school jock type says.

The fantasy creatures would have worked better if they had some sort of origin (such as the Persian king summoned them from hell or something) but they just seemed like someone got over-excited and thought killing humans just wasn't enough.

"This was the most visually stunning , heart poundy gore fest of all time." Hardly. Braveheart was better, and Gladiator was more visually ascetic, if you want to start comparisons.

Overall I give this movie a 'B'. It's a good story with a good message with minor blunders in its presentation.

Well I don’t like the movie, the movie had high quality and good screen but the story was Ridiculer ,and did hurt my feeling even some of characters look like devils!!
I am an Iranian and I think the most thing that I proud in my life is my country’s long term history and it means a lot .
It might be easy for have no culture people and have no history country to change the history as they like but as one have Persian blood human I’ll never can accept any one joke with Persian history and culture , I’m really happy that I have these reflection in age 24 and I’m sure this not just my reflection and more that 90% young and old Iranian people in the world, in time that most of young people don’t importance old history and did forget came from where .
Now I’m just so sorry for some people how don’t know respect others feeling and just think about own profits
Some of people may be just watch this movie”300” for amusement but before watch it as one historic movie I think you should take look at some history books some real books not imaginary history book
Now I really wonder how much people of world know about real culture, civilization. History of Iran ? There is some information for you if interested:

it's just a movie with "epic" character but i was not satisfied by how the story evolved... too early was in action and the characters were NOT so "strong"...i am from greece and i almost laughed when i was watching king leonidas. The directors made him to have some sense of humour and i didn't like it. He should be presented as a lethal warrior...and not only from silly violent scenes...

For an action movie it's a very very good movie 9.5/10
As a movie in general it's about 7/10. It could be done so much better...and it could be done so good that we would say that it was an unforgettable movie of all times....but unfortunately it's just a silly hollywood big budget crap.

I went and saw 300 on IMAX Saturday and I would have to say that it was one of the most impressive movies I have seen in a VERY long time. I am appalled at the comparisons with Troy and Gladiator that i have seen posted. These movies are inferior in comparison with 300. It was unlike any movie that I have ever experienced. I could not say enough great things about it.

you are right my friend, but not totally !!
if you were a Persian (like me) it would be a little hard for you to see your ancient great king and your noble ancestors like savage monsters!
i understand the reason for fiction movies, but i can't understand the reason of FAKE movies.
Lords Of Rings is a fiction. but 300 is a fake. that's why i can't enjoy it. fiction is unreal but 300 is against reality.
by the way, u can go to Frank Miller's Yahoo Question and see many people that already believed this movie and are totally conviced that West was the only civilzed part of the world !
plz go to to link below to see some more info. about Persian Empir:

Yes, It was visually stunning...especially the part about 300 very well made spartan men running around! ;)
But seriously, Frank MIller has a twisted but amazing gift, and I think they did a very good job with this movie, as long as you knew that it wasn't a history lesson!

The movie 300 totally rocked. It was the perfect mix of action and humor. It's one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

I actually saw this movie in Greece yesterday. I was in a theatre with over 200 greek people whom all, when the movie ended, went to a outdoor bar and we all celebrated till dawn. It was fantastic--the movie and the celebration--never had so much fun going to the movies.
300 is quite possibly the best heroic film I have ever seen.
