Bobby Abreu is by far the better player in this deal. Figgins is being targeted in the top 5 rounds of most drafts I've been in so far, and that's much higher than I would take him. He has a career .345 OBP, so he's not outstanding at getting on base, his career slugging percentage is under .400 and he hits less than 10 home runs each year. That being said, there are a few reasons you may want to hold onto Figgins instead of taking Abreu;
1) position versatility - Figgins is eligible all over the field in most formats, whereas Abreu is eligibile only in the OF
2) additional stolen bases - Figgins will swipe around 50/60 bags while Abreu will end up around 30, with an outside shot at 40.
3) Abreu's health - he has a strained oblique, which can be a nagging injury - but he is taking it easier than normal now since it is only March. He should be 100% by opening day, but you never know.
4) Keeper league - Abreu is 33 and Figgins is 29. If you are in a keeper league, Figgins has more value than normal.
Overall - I'd take Abreu. If healthy, he could score 120 runs, hit .310, steal 35 bases drive in 85 runs and hit 25 home runs. Figgins best possible scenerio is probably .300 with 9 home runs, 110 runs scored, 60 RBI and 60 stolen bases.
If possible, you may want to wait until later in the week to see how Abreu's oblique is progressing. He should be making significant progress in the next few days, but I imagine that the only reason he's selling Abreu 'on the cheap' is because he's hurt....

First off, those saying Figgins is a '5-tool' guy, are wrong. A guy who has averaged 7 home runs a year for the last 3 years is missing a screwdriver, or a crescent wrench from his toolbox, since hitting for power is one of 'the tools'. And while his speed will get you 10 triples on the year, he won't get you any more than 25 2B, so he doesn't exactly drive the ball to the gaps with great consistency either. He hit .267 last year, with an OBP of .336 and he slugged a paltry .376. Meanwhile, Abreau, while hitting only 15 HR last year, still drove in 109 and stole 30 bags to boot. He also had 41 doubles and 2 triples. He had an onbase percentage of .419, and he slugged .507. Now that he's seen AL pitching, his HR total should be in the 25+ range this year, with over 100 knocked in again. Plus, he hit .330 last year. So clearly, the only guy with 'all the tools' in this comparison is Abreau. The tools being: 1. Hitting for average 2. hitting for power 3. Speed 4. throwing arm 5. defensive abilities
Having said all this, I'd have to take Abreu over Figgy in any kind of league, roto or head to head. Yes, Figgy will get you 50+ SB. But I'll take Abreu's 30, coupled with his power production, over Figgins every time. IMHO, it isn't even close. The only 'wild card' in this deal is how bad is Abreu hurt? I seriously doubt if this guy would even offer you this deal if Abreu was completely healthy.

Depends. If Figgins is just a random player (you use him as OF or 3b.) Thats a perfectly fair trade. Now the only thing is if you dont have a decent 2b to back him up I would say maybe shy away.
Look at the FA list See if there is a 2ber that is decent enought you can use. (I honestly would lean towards it) Abreu is a top flight OF and in the Yankee's line up batting 3rd behind Jeter and in front of A rod. Wow I think he could get 120 runs and 120 rbi's with ease.
"dont worry about the injury" Abreu hasnt missed many games going on the DL in the past 10 years.

it depends what you have and what you need. both are pretty much 5-tool guys. Abreu I think is slightly better becuase his HR count lead overshadows his lack of SB in comparison to Figgins. However, since Abreu is injured, I would keep Chone Figgins. He will operate full power to a much longer extent.

No way. Abreu is allright but his numbers have been on the decline for a couple of years. Figgy's numbers and fantasy value have increased every year - if you are set on SB's without Chone (don't expect Abreu to contribute to those numbers anymore) and you need OF help, counter the offer and request an additional player. Possibly a closer - but straight up for this trade is not even close.

Chone Figgins is very much a sleeper. He would be better that Abreu. I would take an infielder over an outfielder, anyway.

No. Chone is a five-tool guy (albeit a light version). Nice package of skills, and a good base stealer.
If healthy, and if I already had basestealers, I might rather have Abreau, for the slight edge in average, and a power boost, but his age and injury history work against him.
Chone is very underrated. Playing for the Angels, he seems to have escaped a lot of favorable attention in fantasy circles.
Keep him.

Sounds thrilling yet yeah tigers will ought to provide up plenty yet in all risk possibilities, i doubt there will be a famous individual for famous individual commerce. BQ Ivan Rodriguez, Im no longer keen on the tigers(REDSOX fan) yet he's usual greater desirable than Piazza. Thats once you're asking approximately usual. The Pudge as a great shielding and offensive catcher in his top and Mike Piazza had great offense yet vey undesirable protection. Ivan rodriguesz ought to hit for touch, ability, grab, field, throw, call a activity, management. the only factor is working fairly plenty. Piazza had the hitting nevertheless. Offensive= Mike. usual= Ivan

Depends. Do you have any players that can get you stolen bases? Do you lack power hitters? If answers to those questions are yes, then make the trade.
