Well, if he is from Africa you can't really call him an American now can you? Nope, I would call him African.

The question seems a bit tricky... many states in northern Africa are considered Arab, and some states are also considered Mediterranean. Someone can legitimately say they are African American if they are from north africa, but they will probably get some gruff for it because they are not black. It would confuse people, africans are black, whereas this person looks more "arabic".

If he was born in Africa, then he is African, not American at all. African-American means a person born in the USA whose ancestors are from Africa. It would be up to him whether he was called "black", but Africans are called black. they prefer it, either African or black.

African American dude because if a black guy goes to Africa he probably would be treated differently. some africans think they are more superior than blacks which is stupid but also true

They'd probibily be called Arab-Americans, not African-Americans. African-American is sort of a made up term to describe the descendents of any number of sub-saharan african tribes.

Call him Black or just African, doesn't matter really. You don't have to be politically correct.

It is just as weird as why you Americans refer to "Hispanic" as a separate racial group. Spaniards would be very upset if other Europeans referred to them as a separate ethnic group!
