My friend is 19 years old now, but between the ages of 5 and maybe 9 or 11 (she isn't quite certain, she doesn't like to think about it) she was molested on several occasions by two of her older cousins. After on incident, one of her molesters looked at her and said, "You know you aren't a virgin anymore, right?" Is this true? Can you lose your virginity when it is TAKEN from you?

I disagree with everyone here. That little girl was raped. She was little and no matter what those guys did to her, she is still a virgin. What I mean is physically, only a doctor could say if her hymen is broken. But, emotionally and spiritually, this girl is still a virgin. She did not give her virginity away. She did not give that special part of herself to anyone. So when she chooses to share that gift with the one she loves, she will share that as one who has never been with another. She is pure of heart, and I think that is what virginity is all about, regardless of what those sad little men did to her. (The very same thing happened to me when I was her age, and it happened with my cousin too...and though I have repressed a lot of what happened, and therefore do not know for sure, I consider myself still a virgin.)
I wish her well, that she has gotten some help for what has happened to her and, although the statute of limitations on her being raped might be up, I do hope that she has at least contacted someone about it. Take care and God bless!

I'm so sorry about your friend. I hope she turned those creeps in (and it's never too late). Jerks. And listen closely... I'm 52 years old, have two children, and I'm still a virgin any night I need to be to the man who truly loves me, cares for me, and respects me - my husband is my best friend. I'm also guessing that her creepy cousins didn't know how to do the act and she's probably still a virgin to this day. Take care.

I guess in a technical sense, yes since they probably broke they hymen.

However, if I were her, I'd think of myself as a virgin away until she choses to give herself to someone. She has every right to want to claim to be one and by saying she's not only poses more questions that she won't want to answer (espeically to strangers). When she finds someone she's serious about, she can explain the situation to them.

If she has been penettrated y her molester then yes she might have lost her hymen (A flimsy membrane partly covering the vaginal opening) which is taken as an indicator of verginity.

physically...no she is not a virgin. but in another sense...she is still a virgin and is still pure...because someone took it from her and did not decide to give it up. so she is still pure because she didnt give it up. losing ur virginity really means making the decision to lose it...she didnt make the decision..her cousins did.

i feel bad for her....i hope she is better! =]

Virginity as a physical state, ends when vaginal intercourse happens, but that doesn't mean that she isn't a virgin emotionally.

It really shouldn't matter to anyone in any situation if her hymen is broken or not....

Unfortunately, yes. If there was penetration, she is know longer a virgin, and I hope her cousins died a slow and painful death.

technically yes she wouldn't be a virgin, but I think she should still be able to claim her virginity because she did not willingly give it up.

Yes. The first time you have sex, willingly or not, you lose your virginity.
