Agreements - For Uniforms:
- May reduce discrimination and teasing. Everyone will be at equal status fashion wise. (especially true for low income students)
- Less complications for school officials about what is and what isn't appropriate clothing
- Avoids gang clothing, sexually provacative clothing, etc...
- Could get dressed faster, saves both parents and students time
- Makes it easier to identify who belongs in the school and who doesn't

Objections - Against Uniforms:
- Freedom of speech is in the U.S. constitution. And many people believe fashion is a form of free speech.
- Decreases individuality and creativity.
- Creates a restrictive learning environment
- Uniforms are created by designs to fit a certain body type. Larger students may not look as good in uniforms and be put at a disadvantage.
- May create more abscences. Gives an excuse to be absent: My uniform wasn't clean, couldn't find my uniform, etc..
- Harder to identify individual students
- May decrease comfort and thus won't be able to focus on learning if not comfortable

School uniforms discourage individuality and creativity. Many young people like to show their personalities through what they wear. If the United States is a free country, then how come the school boards are making students wear whatever they said? Also, not all uniforms fit on certain shapes and sizes. Students might feel uncomfortable and embarrashed for having to wear clothings that don't look good on them. Uniforms are not costless either, you still have to buy them. Sometimes, a uniform's cost is much more than a family can afford.

I believe uniforms are a great idea because then you don't have people competing with their clothes to see who has the best outfit....the coolest clothes...the most expensive shirts and jeans. Some argue that it takes away individuallity but if you need clothes to say who you are...then you must not have much of a personality. Besides at my school we had uniforms but we were still aloud to wear whatever shoes or jewelry we wanted.
