change from a routine can be understandable. change into an unknown is human nature to be wary. change to something better is always a welcome sight.

Change is the unknown, and the root of fear from the unknown is the fear of death - since death is the least known thing in the world (nobody you know can say he experienced it...)
Once you understand death will come naturally (since we all die) - you understand that the unknown will come, thus change (=anything unknown) is nothing to be scared from - make the change and it will happen.

Going into the unknown. Life is so short that to waste any of it on a mistake is a waste. Not only that there's not a person alive that hasn't been hurt and it would be stupid of us not to try to protect ourselves from being hurt again.
