If you are trying to "get back in shape", then you SHOULD NOT be en pointe. Take month of flat work in technique shoes before you even CONSIDER putting on your pointe shoes. If you jump back into point without being "in shape" properly, the chances are much higher that you will injure yourself. ESPECIALLY with 'cheap' shoes that may not be right for your foot.

Cheap pointe shoes will kill your feet. The best shoes to practice in are ones that have been thoroughly broken in--which you should have already if you've been en pointe before.
You are far better off to buy the exact shoes recommended by your instructor and learn how to take care of them properly so as to extend their lifespan.
Also--to just "get back in shape" doesn't REQUIRE you to dance en pointe. Just work the barre in flat ballet slippers to regain strength, turn-out and muscle tone and buy the right shoes after you've saved up a bit of cash.
I would recommend getting a second-hand pair of good shoes before a "cheap" pair, also.

I highly doubt that payless will have pointe shoes. However, when it comes to pointe, you want to ensure you aren't damaging your feet, so please be careful when buying. Of course pointe shoes are going to be expensive from any dance store, so your best bet is to see if you can buy a second-hand pair. Some dance stores have these. Also, check at various dance schools and studios. Some places will rent them out. If you can't find any, then try Adajio. They are usually cheaper than places like Shirley Potters.

Unfortunatly, pointe shoes don't come that cheap. The cheapest I remember seeing are Bloch Aspirations on discountdance.com. However, the cheap ones may not fit you. In fact, the ones perfect for your feet may be 50 or more dollars.

Well first of all I would recommend going for quality not price. Weather you are just practicing or not you shouldn't risk the health of your feet just to save some money. Get what you usually get and go with it. Your feet are used to those kinds of shoes and I would stick with it.

you already know about discount dance from the other question you posted, right?
www.allaboutdance.com
www.capezio.com
as you probably already know it's hard to buy pointe shoes online unless you have the very specific measurements and some brands run large/narrow than others.
good luck

payless is not gonna have shoes. you cannot just go buy shoes and hope they fit. you need to go to a dance store and have them fitted. the way it sounds you dont need to be in pointe anyway. you need to take regular ballet until your dancce teacher tells you other wise.
