Sir Max Edgar Lucien Mallowan, CBE (6 May 1904–19 August 1978) was a prominent British archaeologist, specialising in ancient Middle Eastern history, and the second husband of the novelist Dame Agatha Christie. He was born in London, educated at Lancing College, and studied classics at New College, Oxford.
