interesting question!physiologically,i would guess that "middle age "is 40-60,roughly,that 60's and 70's are kinda old,and that 80-100+ is old.period.however,philosophically,it depends on the person.i have a couch pt8o friend in her 30's who never seems to go out,who sits around watching videos and eating, and who is reluctant to try new foods,or take trips or explore any kind of new venture.i would argue that she is far older than my gr8 aunt, who cuts wood and tends a garden, and has an active travel/social life.my friend is also older than my neighbor, who got his private pilots liscence at 71,or my mom,who worked full-time,and enjoyed it,till age 73,when she moved from the place she worked at for her entire life!it really does seem to be a "state of mind."even if u are ill,if u are engaged in the world, and curious,ur mind is young even if ur body is showing some wear and tear.life is what u make it,and that seems to include age,in an emotional sense.

I would say mid to late 60's. But most people of my generations and the ones after mine think anything over 40 is old.
