I'll be flying into Dublin, Ireland in mid May, and want to spend a month in Europe if at all possible, visiting the UK, the south of France, Tuscany, and parts of Greece. Is it possible to do this with only $1000? If not, how much time is reasonable for this amount of money?

I plan on staying in hostles and flying discount airlines to get from place to place.

Before you leave:

check this website: http://www.bt-store.com/

And price out ALL your flights, compare train vs. plane and All hostiles.

If you are going Mid May that is the start of Peak travel season so anywhere you go is going to be more expensive and more crowded.

It's possible, but don't spend ANY money on postcards, tacky souveniers, etc...

See if the hostiles you are staying at will include breakfast: some do, and some don't.

For lunch, stick to "street food" You know, things like hot dogs, etc... Also, if you can - go to the local grocery stores to buy meals. This will cut down on food costs.

Sometimes packages deals can be cost-effective. Maybe you might want to consider www.contiki.com if you are between the ages of 18-35 they offer really inexpensive travel packages from 3 days to 3 months!

Good luck and happy travels!

All of the countries you mentioned do use the euro which is worth more than the dollar and would making things more expensive than you think. Thor_gare gave you the currency of Iceland, the Icenandic Kroner. The Republic of Ireland uses the euro.

Ireland, south of France and Tuscany are possible, but Greece maybe a bit too far. You could get a cheap flight from Ireland or the UK to Northern Italy and get a train to the south of France and you could go north to see Paris or south to see Barcelona.

A word of warning for hostels on mainland Europe, bring your own sheets. They are very clean in Ireland and the UK but tend to degrade on the continent.

With 1000usd u cant really do much unless that excludes ure airfare & accomodation.1000 usd wud be around 758 euro's. Spending time in the UK wud prolly cost quite a bit as pounds is actually rather strong against the usd. It wud be around 517pounds.For Greece & France uses Euro's. Ireland uses Kronur ( ISK ).U can of coz stretch ur usd by budgetin to cheap hostels & pension houses.Eat cheap.THen u prolly can last for 1mth.U can actually google up some "budget hostels" online to see how much u wud need to spend on accomodation.Travellin around around can cost quite a bit ( transportation wise ).So if u already have a date set to go,google up budget flights as they are cheaper when they are further to the departure date.U can check a few sites below to help u out. Also bear in mind that some historical sites charges fees for entrance. So u need to put that into consideration. Also, best u take away from restaurants/cafes/bakery so that u can save on "tips" and drinks.( Only if ure on a tight budget ).U can also go to a local supermarket & buy fillings for sandwiches & bread.( juz a suggestion if u shud be short of cash ) Good Luck & Happy Hunting!

5K for 2 weeks on the time table you're making plans, attributable to the greenback having lost plenty in value. perfect now, i might pass London, because of the fact the substitute fee of the Pound to the greenback is even worse than the Euro/greenback. the fees interior the united kingdom are greater or less resembling the fees in NYC, yet you pay in kilos. in certainty a hamburger that expenditures 4 greenbacks in NYC will value 4 kilos (8 greenbacks) in London. there are lots of of effective places to bypass to so as that 2 weeks quite isn't adequate time. %. 2, max 3 international places and verify museum openings in strengthen. AAA has some incredibly good guidebooks that that's quite helpful to take a seem at.

In my opinion you could do it for a month excluding air travel, (you have chosen places which are fairly far apart.)
As a rough guide I would use$40-$50/day for hostel and food and some admission fees.
For travel I would compare the cost of air vs. euro rail pass.
