I've just received a receptionist job at a gymnastic's place and they aren't paying me much but there are also 3 shift and I'm during the third shift and only work three hours a night.

Today is my first day and they didn't tell me how to dress or anything. I'm also nervous I'm not sure how well I'll do or what excactly the responsibilities are or what I need to know, which I'm sure they'll train me to do, I guess it's just first day jitters.

In any case, they didn't tell me how to dress but when I went in there the receptionist was wearing gym pants/capris, flip flops, and a company t-shirt.

How do you think I should dress and what should I expect?

I'm a nervous person and once the interview got here the last thing on my mind was asking about the dress code which should of been asked first, I suppose. I wasn't nervous because I lied, because I believe the truth is always the best policy, I'm just always nervous about everything, it's just my nature. LOL I will call and ask though. I guess this was a stupid question for all the Yahooers :P But thanks in advance for all the answers and the actual responses that consists of ideas. To the others, thanks for cutting me down. Just kidding. Thanks for putting the idea of asking in my head, I'm a dumbie I would of never though of that. LOL =P

Dress in a manner that would appeal to just about anyone. I suggest a pair of simple slacks and casual shirt, with a pair of casual shoes, like loafers, mules, etc. I wouldn't wear flip flops and gym pants because they might show disrepect for your first day on the job. Dress comfortably and casually but in a way that shows people should respect you and you respect your job. You can always dress more casually as you get more familiar with the job and its expectations. Good luck to you. Be confident, relax.

I always take my dressing cues from the employees. And I ask on the day of the interview, just in case. Or... since you're not due in yet, call and ask! That's a very reasonable and responsible question, and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to let you know. Congrats on your new job.

As a general rule, dress one step above what you see them wearing. Wear a causal pair of pants , maybe a nice colored tee and some casual loafers or something like that. Better to be overdressed than underdressed. Good luck!

Why don't you ask the people/person who hired you? This is a very good question and should have been asked when you were hired. You should have been given a lot of information when you applied.

How is anyone supposed to accurately know this?
You need to ask the person who hired you. Asking what you should wear is an appropriate question. Ask them.
