Ok first of all...you mean guys go watch football or something..and stop waisting our time by being jerks!

If you wear mascara and you won't have a problem..also if you're blonde with blue or green eyes like I am you should use brown mascara for a casual effect it goes well with bright eyeliners..and don't put lots of lipstick if you decide to go with the bright eyeliner.A natural color lip gloss should do the trick!

I just bought this glossy super shiny bright purple eyeliner and I wear it all the time and in the morning I think bright eyeliners are the best because they make people focus on your eyes!

I love colored eyeliner, and if you choose a good color and good quality eyeliner, it looks great. I have brown/hazel eyes, and purple or dark green eyeliner gets so many compliments.

First, cheap or poorly-made eyeliner will go on rough and look awful no matter what color. I like the Sephora eyeliner pencils, and a brand sold at Target, Sonia Kushik, I think. Neither are terribly expensive, just work well for me. I only line the top lashes. All the way around the eyes is a bit much. I make sure to use a very subtle lip color as well, clear lipgloss or a very nude pink. That way your eyes get all the attention, and it's not overdone. Hope that helps!

Don't listen to the ones saying not to use colored eyeliner. They've probably only noticed it when it's done wrong. When it's done right, you will get compliments on your eyes, not your eyeliner.

If you use a very fine line of colored liner, you will not risk looking overdone. You could also use a similar colored eyeshadow to help soften the line so it looks less stark on your eyes.

I want to absolutely warn you and anyone else who purchases craft store glitter pens and uses them on eyes... they are NOT, I repeat NOT, intended for cosmetic use, and that includes being used on the face and eyes. They're non-toxic in the sense that if you ingest them orally, you should not die from stomach issues and related problems. However, craftstore glitter (and many make-up glitters, even MAC glitters!) are NOT eye-safe. They contain particles that may scratch and scrape against part of your eyes and cause PERMANENT cornea damage. Just because you can't see it today doesn't mean it won't add up in a few years. Some of the products you find may be carcinogenic (causes cancer) to the eyes, as well.

Please use products as they were intended... craftstore glitter is meant for crafts, not your face!

The trick is not to use too much. I usually only use colored eye liner when I'm going out. I make sure that I use a color that makes my eyes stand out, and I don't put a lot on. Don't put a lot toward the inside corner of your eye, but focus more on the outside corner of your eye. ( It'll make your eyes 'pop' and stand out more) Also, it depends what you're wearing and what color eyeshadow you're wearing. You want to make sure that it all compliments each other. you wouldn't want to wear blue eyeliner with orange eyeshadow. (An ugly color. I know. But it was just an example.) And if you want to go for that "drama look", try using a cotton swab or something similar to smooth it out at the outside corner of your eye. So good luck, and have fun. It's fun to experiment with make up.

With confidence. Seriously. The best tip to rocking anything over the top is to wear it and KNOW that you look awesome.

Other than that, while it's hard to make makeup like that look "natural," per se, make sure to smudge the edges so that it at least blends into your face. Hard lines of intense color look harsh.

Check out the Sephora article below, which includes tips to updating the classic smoky eye with this springs colors (green, purple, etc). You should check out the other "Get the Look" articles too, they've all got great tips.

Good luck and way to go bold!

If i wear blue eyeliner i tend to wear a blue eyeshadow on the lid blended into the crease with a highlight with the blue eyeliner lined on the top lid

Put the eye liner from the middle of the eye to the corner, don't go from corner to corner. Then put mascara, don't load on the liner either, and don't put it on the inside of the eye

Here are tips for normal liners:

Close-Set Eyes:
Line outer third of upper lids with gray, brown, or black liner. Smudge gently. Use a lighter liner on the inner eye to widen the space between eyes.

Small Eyes:
Draw a dark line gradually thickening at outer edge of the eye. Use a light-colored pencil (gold, silver, white) and draw under lower lash.

Deep-Set Eyes:
Line upper lash line with pale, shimmery liner. Then line outer edge of lower lash with a soft, neutral shade (gray or taupe). This will create the illusion of a less heavy lid.

Drooping Eyes:
Line outer third of eye very close to lashes, carefully sweeping the liner up at the corner of the eye.

Wear a bright colour underneath and a dark colour on your top lid, this evens out the look and if the colour comes on too dark use a cotton bud to smooth and fade out slightly!!

Hoshit, you'll think i'm crazy as hell for this, but trust me-

Buy non-toxic gel-pens.

Not the neon color,s but ones that are opaque, like metallic or glittery, or pastel.

They really do work, because they are ball-point(so they roll on very easily witohut pushing too hard) are extra-fine so you don't have a quarter-inch line, and they stand out amazingly.

The'yre so much easier to work with than regiualr eyeliner,s beucase usually the wilder colors are far mor expensive, and also they might be harder to apply the way you want.

On another note- it also depends on how you execute the rest of your makeup. You don't want to overblow it- you gotta play it out right, without makeint it look like way too much.

I'm on stage usually, so I tend to go heavy((it still looks nice, btw)) but on the street I soften it up.

Use paler colors, some heavy bl;ack mascara, then a nice bright wisp of whatever color you want, if you want to look it nice.

Also- usually, eyeliner on the top lid looks terrible, no matter /how/ thin it's drawn on.

It actually looks best on the bottom lid, and often pulled out in the outer corner to a fine, short wing.

Bright colors are harder to work with, if you're used to keeping it toned down.

But I am honest-togodf serious about the gel pens.

But a pack at your local craft or office store.

They last forever, and they are just amazing.

Not to mention- you can never get the colors on 'real' liner to look half as bright as the gel, and, in case you';r worried, I've been doing it for years, and the only eye problems I've ever had was a black eye when I got in a fight.

Just don't use silver- it might itch. ((My friend said so, but it never did it to me))

Apply it to your bottom eye lid only. It will provide the right pop of color to your eyes, without being a fashion don't.

Good Luck!
