We are getting married in July. We just finished up building our new house and with furnishing it and everything else we are maxed out in the budget department. We have most of the household items we need, we were trying to find a tactful way to word it on the invitations that cash is okay in lieu of a gift. Every way I think of wording it just sounds tacky and I am beginning to wonder if there is a way or if it is hopeless...

I have been to a few showers and weddings with a wishing well at them. The invitations were worded as such."No gifts needed the couple will have a wishing well at the wedding to help make their dreams come true."It worked people took cards and put well wishes and money in them myself included...You can find them thru Oriental trading catalog.

Totally tacky to ask for cash as a wedding gift. It makes you sound like a money loving and money grubbing couple.

I have seen people tactfully request a donation in their name to a favorite charity of their choice; usually used by couples who are established and not starting the new adventure of living together in the same household.

Congratulations and best of luck to you both.
