mitsubishi space gear 2.8 diesel?

at lite revs when iam cruesing loads of dark grey smoke bellows out from the exhaust with slight loss of power so bad i feel sorry for the traffic behind me and if i speed up a little, all clear again any ideas ?? regard andrew

from your description the cause appears to be an excess of diesel. have injectors tested and overhauled if necessary. have the compression checked while they are out (to eliminate possible engine faults) and check valve clearances. a faulty pump blocked air filter element or blocked breather system can all cause problems. it's a process of elimination. does it have auto choke that's malfunctioning
