Spotting is a littl bit of blood which can either be red in color or almost brown. A panty liner would probably be more than enough to cover this. It is kind of like the very last bit of your period, when it is just here and there. Hope that helps, its hard to describe I guess.

Usually spotting is blood, usually what it looks like when your period is starting.
It's not always dangerous, but it could be depending on the amount of blood and if cramps are present. Sometimes you have blood left over from the egg implanting and sometimes you can bleed and the doctors do not know why. However, blood can also mean an impending miscarriage.
If you are having any kind of spotting, or what you think may be spotting, call your doctor ASAP so they can check you out and determine what is going on.

Not to alarm you but, when I was spotting, I called my doc and they said that it was perfectly normal and that everything would be okay. I was never in any pain but the spotting did turn out to be something. It was scant and brown. When I got to the doctor's office they told me my hcg levels where dropping and I would loose the baby, and I did. I'm not telling you to scare you, I just think the sooner you go to the doctor to confirm that everything is okay (or not), the better. Otherwise you'll worry yourself crazy, like I did. If it's a normal occurrence, like my doctor said than maybe you are just fine, but just in case there's a problem you should go get checked out. If they tell you they don't want to see you until week 8 or so, go to the emergency room or an urgent care clinic. Or tell your doctor you are about to worry yourself sick.

Spotting is usually a light pink or brown color. It's very very light. It's kind of like a discharge that shows up when you wipe yourself after going to the bathroom. It's nothing to be worried about. But if you are experiencing something different then that then you need to call your doctor ASAP.

At 6 weeks if it's light spotting (which is usually just what it sounds like spots of blood usually brownish) it's probably placement bleeding and nothing to worry about. If it starts to get heavier or bright red and is accompied by cramping dizzieness or just a dull pain get to your docs asap.
Good luck to you.

Spotting is very light bleeding, usually pinkish in color as opposed to bright red. It is not unheard of in early pregnancy, but you should probably check with your doctor just in case.
