Congratulations to you! I had a 6 month old when I got pregnant again, so I know the range of emotions you must be feeling right now!
I was a bit hung up on that same concept but we ended up with two girls. We were going to put them in the same room, however, our oldest was on such a great sleeping cycle that we didn't want to disrupt her. For the first few months, our newborn slept in her bassinet in the family room...just down the hall from our bedroom. This was the arrangement we found easiest for us.
I have a friend whose children are a boy and girl, approximately 3 years apart. They still share a room and are perfectly happy and well-adjusted. I think that when a child reaches school-aged, it is nice to give them their own space if you can.
If you only have a two bedroom home and cannot afford to give your children separate rooms, don't sweat it! My father was one of seven children in a three bedroom home. All of the children shared bedrooms their whole lives and are just fine!
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and feel free to email me if you need any motherly advice from someone who now has a 20 month old and a 5 month old!! Ah, but it's so much fun! ;-)

Well for right now you should be worried about the newborn waking the girl. So I would keep the newborn in your room 'til the baby can sleep the night. As they get older you might want to be careful because children are very curious. And they might not think "exploring" is wrong, but I know it can make you a little uncomfortable, so if you have no choice on making another room for one of them, make sure they know that touching each other is not appropiate, and that they know some basic things about their body parts when age appropiate, such as the names when they begin to speak.
I hope I helped and that what I said made sense. Good Luck and congrats on the coming baby!

Is your 6 month old a boy or girl? Either way, the only problem I see right away is the newborn waking your 6 month old at night and/or vice versa.
Usually if the children are of opposite sex, most laws enforce by the age of either 5 or 6 the children must not share a room any more.
Good luck!!

Been there and Still doing it!!!!
I had my first daughter in October 2003 found out feb 1 we are pregnant again. Had my second daughter in October of 2004. They have been in the same room since the first night we brought our second daughter home. We only have a 3 beedroom house and chose to make the third bedroom into a toy rom for the girls instead of another bedroom beacuse of the size of the room.
It is your choice how long to keep them together. I know in the future they will need their own room but they are babies. The privacy thing is not an issue this young.

it would be appropriate until your 6 month old is about 1 year, maybe less. You also should know that in some states, it is illegal for siblings of a different sex to share a room, regardless of age. please also think about your infants sleeping habits. will he sleep through the night? if not, how will your 6 month old adapt? Also, if you put them together now, once they are apart, they might have problems sleeping due to the noise level in their own room.

I actually have had pets my finished existence. I now have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. I actually have had water dragons, turtles, fish, mice, hamsters, cats and dogs by out their lives. i imagine you may have any type of puppy you want provided you may provide the puppy an superb high quality of existence at the same time as nevertheless providing a similar on your infant. Getting a clean puppy at the same time as you've a infant may nicely be time eating or maybe complicated. yet in case you imagine you may take on the duty of a clean puppy, rabbit, with a infant then bypass for IT! sturdy success :o)

It would be appropiate to have them in the same room even if they are of different sex, til the age of 5 or 6. Leave two boys together as long as you like!

I think as a baby/ tot this is the best option. I would think this would be ok until they are 5-6.
However for the first 6 months to a year the baby would share mine. Its clothes, and furniture can be in the bedroom, but have the Crib in mine.

I think they're going to have a lot of fun and it's a great way to get bonded together. We always shared rooms when I was little and I always enjoyed it. By the time we would have our own rooms, we would sleep still at each others room for the weekend, because sleeping together feels great, because you don't have to sleep alone.

I don't think that there is a cut of age for children of the same sex sharing a room, if you don't have room for them both to have their own room, you don't really have a choice. Good Luck.
