First of all, remember that your engine and engine compartment gets very hot, as well as your exhaust, so the "smoke" could've just been steam. You'd have seen that either way--whether something's wrong or not.

Secondly, since an oil light DID come on, drain your oil and change your oil filter immediately.

Have it done for you if you can't do it. It shouldn't be too expensive, and if you're doing it yourself and uncomfortable, don't start off at the shop telling them that your engine could've gotten wet...they'll hose you. Just get the oil chnaged first and pay CLOSE attention to whether or not there are any other issues.

I believe there are also additives out there that "dry out" the gasoline in your car, but I've never used it, so I'm not 100% sure about that.

possibly just steam and condensation for the "smoke"

Possibly just water shorting the oil pressure warning sensor. When it shorts it turns on the light since the thing just uses oil pressure to prevent the ground circuit from completing.

Its also possible water got in the oil... Pull the dipstick and check for sort of a light chocolate milkshake color and consistency.

Try finding the oil pressure sensor and drying it.

If this does not cure it (or it doesn't cure itself by just parking the car for a day) then take it to a shop... preferably by tow truck.

Never ignore a low oil pressure light. If that light is on, it can mean your engine is not getting lubrication and you can destroy it very quickly.

You must have gotten water in the electrical connection for the sending unit. Once it dries out you should be OK. If not then clean the connection and see if that clears it. Hopefully you didn't hurt the sending unit, I doubt if you did.
