yes your FBT sometimes leak, be care full it's very dangerous since FBT can generate kilo voltage. You can replace this component or ask someone expert to do this.

are you sure it's the tv?
and not the sat/cable box?
a way to check is to put the cable directly into the tv tuner
or switch to a dvd player when it happens

oh, and by the way, i believe it's 'pretendonitis'

When mine did that I was told it was a "whistling fly wheel". Fortunately I won a tv before it drove me nuts.

BTW - I think you mean tinnitus.

It's probably the flyback transformer; it could be going bad.

And yes it is tinnitus, but it's flyback not flywheel (as in a car) ;-)
