Hi

If you mean the childrens act 1989 then read on!!!

It was devised to try to end abuse of children and give them protection from vulnerability. In the 70's and 80's so many children in care were abused by so called carers so the act was introduced to try to put an end to this.

Unfortunately what had happened is that children have now been given too much power but this is also being redressed.

The act is long and complicated but there are different sections relating to children being put into care but the parents keeping responsibility, children being placed ionto care and the responsibility of children being taken away, adoption of children, children at risk and also children being temporarily placed into care.

The act also lays out what children should expect from the people who care for them and what is expected from the child.
