my sis in law does it....and has had very little if any tearing ...this is with 7 pregnancies. my doctor did some masaging and slow stretching in that area (it doesn;t feel the best tho) and i had ZERO tearing with that baby!! i am going to ask about that at my next appointment too (i have a different dr ythis time)

but i do reccomend it...i've had good results!

Does it help? Oh yes, 100% yes.

With my first i had trilateral tearing. (3 ways)
over 24 stitches. It took almost 45 minutes to sew me up.

My husband and i did the massage every night for the last month with number 2. With my 2nd I had no tearing at all.

With my third I only did it for the last week.*Thinking i had two others it would not need to be stretched as much..* I had one stitch.

In videos of birth you will see the nurse do this. It really does help.

I would definitely check it out if I were you. I have heard it really works and the stories are there to show that people who have done it really believe in it.

There are other factors in tearing too and you should look at those. I heard squatting is a really great position to birth in. I did NOT want to be laying on my back when my baby came but unfortunately I went from 5-10 in like 30 seconds and pushed him out in 3 pushes. He came TOO fast and after 20 hours of bad back labor I didn't care how he came out. Lol.

Yes i did this with all 3 of pregnancys and no tears, best advice is if you are really worried about this, as i was, talk to the delivering midwife she will give you clear instructions through the later contractions to help prevent any tearing. Also for bruising afterward arnica cream is great

I have done it and it TOTALLY makes it easier! My first time I had a 3rd degree tear and the second time it only tore a little and it didn't even qualify fo 1st degree tearing. Both of my boys were 9lbs and the massage helped SO MUCH! Not to mention you can have your husband do it for you to keep the romance when sex isn't comfortable anymore due to your grow abdomen.

ive neva done it, but i had a friend who did it 4 like the last 2 or 3 months of her preg and she said it worked. that it helped her push the baby out "smoother" were her words, she did end up getting tears. but u should keep in mind that every pregnacy is diff and what works 4 u might not work 4 others. so just go with the flow.give it a shot and c if it works, it cant hurt...
