The wearing of green has become tradition on this holiday because it is the color of spring, Ireland, and the shamrock. It helps people get into the mood of the holiday. As they say, "On this day everybody is Irish!" It is unknown as to why children are taunted for not wearing green or how the tradition of arm pinching became the punishment. Perhaps it is because they are thought of as party poopers. Be on the safe side and wear a tad of green! Or pad those arms well.

It has no longer something to do with St. Patrick, i will inform you that now. for people who're baffled analyzing this question, enable me clarify... On St. Patrick's Day (17 March), in the country, every person is meant to positioned on green. in case you do no longer, you would be able to get pinched, via every person who dares. some say that in case you're wearing green and you get pinched via mistake, you get to pinch returned ten cases. The pinching element is maximum rife between American college babies. Forgetting to positioned on green on March seventeenth is the form of mistake you do no longer make 2 years working. whilst and the place did this custom initiate? it is not community to famous eire, via the way! i found it very unusual, as quickly as I moved to Britain from the country, that no one mentioned any element of St. Patrick's Day. One custom is that the pinching began in the early 1700s, with reference to the time that information of St. Patrick's as a trip got here to the fore, too, in Boston (in the Massachusetts colony). in case you wore green it made you invisible to the Leprechauns - else they have been out to pinch every person they'd see. So the pinching become to warn you with reference to the Leprechauns.

Never heard of that. Is it required that everyone wear green, whether one is Irish or not?
